Yesterdays workshop was out-of-control. Allison, Kate, Jackie and Julia rocked it with their cute embroidered palm trees, graffiti fonts and environmentally friendly quotes. Going over the basic stitches was lots of fun - we used a simple back stitch to create the text, and then satin and chain stitches for the fill. Stem and blanket stitches cover lots of ground quickly, so they're better for borders. Transferring the text was a challenge on the opaque fabric, (usually you can trace it onto the fabric through a bright window) so we just stitched over the text instead and then soaked the paper in warm water to remove what was stuck under the thread.
And have you ever noticed how cute girls look when they're embroidering things? Amazing. Definitely planning a second one for Mothers Day!
