Here are pics from the 1 Hour "Stache 'n Dash" moustache-making workshop at City of Craft on Sunday. After debating what to make for this workshop, I finally decided to make stuffed mustaches after one of my very first customers told me that her daughter was asking for one this Christmas. They're a great way to use cut scraps of fabric that are too small to make into anything else.
Jessica and her boyfriend Drew chose the classic moustache fabric, cashmere wool felt in camel. They were here on vacation from Baltimore (after finding $1~ bus tickets online!). And the lovely Michelle Yee of Soft Mechanic opted for a more contemporary spin on the moustache - silver sequins. I was quite pleased with how well they all turned out! I will definitely be back to City of Craft next year for Christmas shopping and more crafts!

Fashion IS Art at The Make Den!

Photobucket]
Chanel said it wasn't. Schiapparelli said it was. So is it or isn't it? We hate to contradict Miss Coco, but today fashion IS art at The Make Den. Ususally, a muslin mock-up like this is only used as a fit sample, before the actual garment is made out of a more expensive fabric. But today, this muslin dress with a sweetheart neckline and gathered skirt is going to become the canvas for an impressionist painting! Stay tuned to see what Miss Rebecca paints on her wearable canvas...
